The Last Big Work Day

Sunday was our last full day to get work done on the lobster and the timeline is feeling pretty good. We had a lot of work to do, but we were able to get a lot of it done, and we're feeling pretty good about the progress we've made. Here's what we got completed:

Fixing the Broken Weld on the Control Arm

With the arm removed and prepped by Mark, Ricardo went to work with the grinder, making the old broken weld smooth and safe to work with. Using a bit of steel threaded pipe and a clamp, Ricardo reset the control arm in place and positioned it for easy access to the "pilot."

Attaching the Swimmerets

Mark got into the front cockpit and got to work matching the swimmerets to their individual mounts. One side of the swimmerets are held together with a horizontal bar making it alright to fight into its connectors. The other side, however, were not and it took a bit of testing and finesse to figure out their correct order and orientation.

A tight fit.

On both sides, Mark had to re-drill some mount points to get the swimmerets to secure, which we did with bailing wire. Still there was one swimmeret that we just decided to step away from and come back to later. Better to let it rest than to risk breaking it by forcing it into place.

Some Painting and Blending

Finally, Mark did some more touch-up painting and blending to disguise some repairs and cover up old logos.

We're So Close!

Just a few odds and ends to go, and we're ready to go!
